8-Year-Old Who Gets Botox Says She Looks Like “Pretty Words”

We were stunned to learn about a Kerry Campbell, a mother who was injecting her 8-year-old daughter Britney with Botox awhile back, and then even more shocked to also find out she subjected her child to “virgin waxes,” and this morning the mother was interviewed on Good Morning America by Lara Spencer to talk about the experience, and the reasoning behind it.

The interview tugs at your heart strings, with Britney saying “I do it but it hurts sometimes, but I get used to it.” And then Spencer has her point out where her mom injects her with the Botox. Then, when Spencer asks her what she does it for, she replies “I don’t know.” Which mother Kerry quickly lets out a bit of a shocked gasp and Britney corrects herself, saying “Oh yeah, I do it because I see wrinkles and um, it just like I just like don’t think wrinkles are nice for little girls.”

Apparently Kerry began giving Britney Botox to help her keep up in the pageant world but Kerry confesses that it was her decision, Britney did not ask her for it. What’s worse, is we’re shown photos from after Britney’s Botox “treatments” holding ice to her injection spots, seemingly bruised and puffy.

Spencer asked Britney if she thinks she looks better with the injections, and she replied, “It looks way better. Like beautiful, pretty, like all those kinds of nice words.” Sadly, if she just wants to look like the “pretty words” then something is terribly wrong here.

    Sooo disturbing. Vanity is never an excuse for child abuse and neglect, not to mention I have a hard time believing her mom is licensed to administer Botox.

    I’m infuriated! The fact that she tried to even JUSTIFY why she does it infuriates me off even more. An 8 year old doesn’t have wrinkles. Her daughter didn’t want the botox. She simply talked her daughter into doing it & now her daughter is brainwashed into thinking that botox makes her prettier, more beautiful, etc. I feel bad for this little girl. I can’t help but think that she’ll have alot of self-esteem/self-confidence issues later on in life.

    Part of the abuse is telling the girl she isn’t beautiful just as God made her. This tradjedy seems to affect every female and some males born after 1978 (about)
    Why were girls in the ’70s and early ’80s more confident, less likely to engage in ### and more self-assured?
    Was it a growing lack of fathers? increased sexualization in the media? (or is that a symptom?) Graphic ### ed?
    It could be a tough time to be a kid or a parent.

    This is child abuse. Forget the vanity stuff. This is child abuse. The mother should be monitored and….lawmakers should pass legislation forbidding the use of cosmetic surgery and treatments such as these, from being performed on minors.

    What do you even say? I watched this while getting my 4 yr old ready for a class trip to a farm. She and I were chatting about animals she might see and maybe(fingers crossed) get to pet. Me- so excited by her excitement, her-so happy about her trip on the “big kid’s’ bus. That is the kind of experiences a mommy and little girl should be sharing. Encouraging and joining in your child ‘s critique of her appearance and then stabbing her little cheeks with a needle full of poison? This woman is a MONSTER, my heart breaks for that poor little girl.

    This makes me sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo ANGRYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I so want to slap the mom in the face but unlike her I don’t cross boundaries, this is bizarre and so messed up, she is setting wrong examples to this young lady and later this young lady will be confused, lost, passing bad judgment on others cause all she learned is if you got wrinkles, blemishes or anything on your face, body etc… that you are not beautiful but really what is beautiful is the good that is inside of your own hearts. Everyone is unique and is beautiful in their own way, this young lady has no need for any altercations to any part of her body. I not sure if she should be removed from the mom’s custody but something for sure needs to be done and action needs to be taking fast. In the end this is just making me so ANGRY, need a break from this story! SICK!

    All I can say is this is just SICK and the mom is mentally unstable to think this is a good thing to do to a young lady. ANGER and wanting action to be taking with this mother, that is what I want to know about happening. I want the authorities to get going and fast on this case.

    I’m a 35 year old father of two beautiful girls, 12 & 14… I would NEVER do this to them. Women starting from a young age need to know that they are beautiful just the way they are. I got about 25 seconds into the video before I had to stop because my heart hurt so much for this little girl. The mother, who because of her own failings is attempting to live vicariously through her baby girl and is causing great damage to the little one’s self esteem. She should be ordered to stop or face the removal of the child from her custody.

    In New Zealand and most other countries in the Western world, this would class as child abuse. Come on US… Consent as an adult to medical treatment or beauty treatment is one thing, but this torture? This is why many people in the world consider the US to be somewhat backwards. Whilst this is an extreme example, if we sexualise our children and make social views of stick insect beauty with abnormally huge breasts, pouty lips and skinny everything else the norm, especially with our children, then we are ripe for ridicule and scorn from anyone else. I am not anti US. I am anti child abuse.

    Just so you all know, the little girl is NO LONGER IN THIS MOTHERS CUSTODY. CPS took her away, clearly a good thing too.

    And to you non-American commenters using this to stereotype and talk down about the USA, are you joking with that? Every American with a brain will tell you this is abuse, and as soonn as CPS got wind of it the girl was taken away. And you call that “backwards,” why? Alot of people are saying: ” The kid didnt even ask for it!!” Even if she did ask for it, she’s 8 freaking years old! My kid could ask for a Corvette at 8 they aren’t getting it. Good grief. Next we will see this woman and others like her, getting breast implants for their daughters. These women are deranged and psychotic. These pageants should be banned immediately.

    As disturbing as this is, can we really be surprised? She is physically and mentally feeding
    her child garbage, but so many women and men do it to their own children just in a different form.
    We tell our daughters that they NEED to lose weight, to color their hair, to wear make-up. This
    mother just chose to use Botox to brainwash and lower her child’s self esteem, but so many
    parents are guilty of doing the same. As adults we need to focus on our skills and talents, so that
    our children will learn to appreciate the same things. Beauty fades, it’s time we stopped being so
    obsessed with what we can’t control.

I would rather watch a playground full of happy, messy little girls enjoying a day with their friends then to ever watch a pageant where they learn to pick each other apart to the point of this! The mother has a serious psychological and self-image problem that she is projecting onto her now not-to-innocent child who, in all probability, will disintegrate at age 30 when there aren’t enough in the way of treatments out there to treat the lack of self-esteem inculcated in her from her childhood by her own mother.     Botox is poison, plain and simple. It paralyzes the muscles that it is shot into. I’m really not sure what the long-term health concerns will be for people who inject botulism into their bodies for years, expecially starting at 8-years-old. Shame on the TV show that paid her to be there. Shame on everyone involved in this. I am choosing to grow old gracefully, and naturally. No one stays young looking forever. I can’t even recall seeing someone with a face lift look really good. For the most part they have kind of a martian shiny look about them. Wrinkles are caused by a life of fun and laughter. I cherish mine.

    this is so disturbing on so many levels. the mom doesnt even look, talk, or act like she is qualified in any way to administer any kind of injections…and she doesnt even get her botox from a source she is comfortable with admiting to. this should be illegal, and she should be thrown in jail for hild abuse. this poor girl is going to grow up with a disturbed idea of what ‘pretty’ is. she is going to need years of therapy and counseling to get past this. my heart goes out to the little girl, and all the other little girls whose evil mothers do this to them. pagentry should be illegal.

    I don’t think the lady from NZ was criticizing Americans, saying they, as people, think this is ok. I think she was asking why the heck there is not a law against administering such chemicals, or whatever, to children. That’s all. I’m sure there are lots of differing opinions in every nation of the world, no matter how small.
    I think Americans (& I am one) are way too sensitive about being criticized, because we’re starting to realize the rest of the world has some bones to pick with us & our ego-centric perspective on the world. Criticize me if you like, but I’ve lived overseas for some time now, & have had the chance to hear many peoples’ thoughts & feelings.     This woman needs to be charged with child abuse and this child needs a child advocate to stand up for her. No 8yr old child needs injections or other treatments at this young age. People have gone crazy to spotlight their child and as this child gets older, she (not the mother) will suffer horribly from damages caused from these earlier injections.

    Does anyone even know what botox does in the long run when you give it to a kid? This woman could be destroying her child’s face. What if she ends up looking like a methhead?     This is clearly boarding on the very least of “mental” abuse. How did we get to this place in Americal wherein a mother can clearly be exhibiting some “sick” ideas about her own child and be allowed to show, even discuss this on national television without any reprecussions? Where does this family live? Has anyone called in the Child Protective services? Imagine, if this is how her mother is “responding” to a mother’s love for a child, how much worse will this get as the child gets older? I pray God puts it on the heart of those who can to DO SOMETHING before this child suffers any longer. And yes, I say suffer! Imagine what is going this child’s mind each and every day and how many of mother’s comments are being thrown at her day in and day out about her looks and what needs to be done to improve them! What is the criteria in the state they are in for “mental/emotional abuse? SAD, SAD, SAD. I hope somewhere someone cares enough to intercede in this case. It may take more than one call to the child abuse hotline, but I think we need to do what is right for this poor child; as mother clearly is not!     She does not want to look like pretty words. – Either you are using incorrect grammar, which changes the context of the original statement, or you are not quoting the child. Period. Either change the “quotation” Or get the kid to actually say this. You can’t take 3 words out of a sentence, then change the structure so terribly badly that it means she says something completely different. That’s like taking 4 words out of your story to create the sentence – “Botox Wrinkles little girls!”. Yes, those words are in your story, but you and I know damn well that’s not what you said.

    Well, I didn’t realize there was a video also. So, I guess I was wrong. BUT….in reading one of the comments below, it appears that this child IS NO LONGER in the custody of her abusive parent. This woman doesn’t have the common sense it would take to raise pet GOLDFISH! Sad to see a child seperated from their parent….but there needed to be STRONG intervention. The entire mentality of “childhood beauty contests” is SICK. NO…I don’t think “outlawing” such events are what’s needed. The PROBLEM…..is the PARENTS. A LACK of childhood beauty contests isn’t going to make the parent behave any differently toward their child. They’re IR-RESPONSIBLE! They’ll be JUST AS WRECKLESS in OTHER avenues of the childs life. I’m sure those of you who are old enough remember the pictures of “Joan Beneit Ramsey”. Any parent that believes THAT’S a healthy way to raise a child ….has ROCKS in their heads. Had this child remained with the parent….with no outside intervention to tell her otherwise….what would she have done next? Breast implants by age 12?

That woman is slowly killing her child. She is injecting her with a deadly plague. Yes, I know, it is a dulled down, altered form but it is still a deadly plague.     I am a physician and before I became one, I received my PhD in clinical psychology. This mother has mental problems which I am comfortable discussing with my colleagues, but without meeting this mother in person, I can not make a definitive diagnosis and must reserve them for myself. But, suffice it to say, she has some issues. She has issues and the world can see she has planted/transplanted some of them into her daughter. If she came into my office and I knew of the situation going on, that child would not be leaving with her mother. DHS would be immediately involved. This is a case of child abuse and the physician getting the Botox to her should be hunted down and prosecuted. The medical board in their state needs to get involved.

    The actual thought of this makes me cringe! Who in their right mind would do such a thing? A beautiful precious little girl? Come on now! My prayers are with this beautiful little girl. The mom ( in my opinion) needs mental help. The mother obviously is on a mission to satisfy her own needs through her precious daughter. This is really a serious issue that needs to be addressed! These pageants have gone way too far! Little girls are already targets in this country for sex offenders! This concept is feeding these perverts! When are we going to wake up?

    I guess none of you read the story that a few days after putting this out for the world to see, the mother admitted that this was all done for publicity. The tests on the little girl showed she had no botox or any other injections, and the story was a huge hoax. I guess a lot of you that posted a few days after this story broke out didn’t get the news. Psychotic that you want to sell a story to the world for money? Yes. But it seems to be the American way now with all the jobs going down the toilet and millions of unemployed are seeking for a quick buck, and what a quicker way to make money than selling your story to media outlets. Don’t worry people, the girl didn’t get the shots, i would still worry however if that woman was my mother and told me to lie to get rich.

    Where i come from parents lose custody of their children if the do not act with responsability towards them. In another country nearby anyone could take out a civil action against this sort of treatment. It’s time these “pageant moms” paid a price for their abuse of these beautiful little girls.     I don’t see what is wrong with what this mother is doing. all she is doing is preparing her daughter for the real world, where all pretty women get these cosmetic treatments. without the treatments obviously this child believes she is not pretty, so instead of letting the child go into depression and perhaps doing something self-destructive later on, perhaps these cosmetic injections are helping her cope.
